How Does Slot-die Coating Work?

Slot-die coating is a manufacturing technique for applying a thin liquid layer onto a substrate. It works by controlling the flow of liquid through a narrow slot in the slot-die head, positioned close to the substrate. This setup creates a stable "liquid curtain" or meniscus between the slot-die head and the substrate. As the substrate or slot-die head moves, ink from the meniscus is deposited onto the substrate, forming a thin wet film. The coating thickness is regulated by precisely controlling the substrate speed and liquid flow.
